John McDonough has over fifteen years experience in private practice and was a director and shareholder of another firm of patent attorneys before joining Hepworth Browne. John is qualified as both a patent attorney and trade mark attorney. On the patents side John's practice relates mainly to electronics, mechanical engineering, semiconductor devices and software. In relation to trade marks, John has extensive experience in handling large trade mark portfolios - particularly in the fields of clothing, paints and drinks.

 

John is involved in the training of patent attorneys and paralegals on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and currently teaches a course in Intellectual Property Law on behalf of the University of York. In his spare time he is studying for a further degree in Information Technology and Computing.
